Tylophora indica, also known as Indian Ipecac, has a long history of use in traditional Ayurvedic and folk medicine in India for supporting respiratory health, particularly in the management of asthma, bronchitis, and other bronchial conditions. The leaves of the plant have been used as an expectorant and to relieve cough and wheezing. Traditional texts and ethnobotanical reports describe its use for clearing bronchial congestion and reducing inflammation in the airways.
Some preliminary scientific studies have explored the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects of Tylophora indica, suggesting possible benefits for respiratory conditions.
