Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound found in grapes, red wine, and some berries, and it has attracted scientific interest for its potential cardiovascular benefits, including support for arterial health. Preclinical studies and some small human trials suggest that resveratrol may exert vasoprotective effects through several mechanisms: improving endothelial function, reducing inflammation, and acting as an antioxidant. These effects are hypothesized to promote arterial health by enhancing nitric oxide production, reducing oxidative stress, and inhibiting the oxidation of LDL cholesterol—a process linked to atherosclerosis.

However, the clinical evidence supporting resveratrol for arterial support is still limited and inconsistent. Most human studies have been small, short-term, or used varying dosages and formulations, making it difficult to draw firm conclusions. Meta-analyses report modest improvements in some cardiovascular markers, such as blood pressure and flow-mediated dilation, but overall, the evidence does not yet support robust, clinically meaningful recommendations for resveratrol supplementation to specifically support arterial health in the general population. Larger, longer-term randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm its efficacy and safety. Thus, while there is a scientific rationale and some supporting evidence, it is not strong or conclusive.
