Cinnamomum, commonly known as cinnamon, has been studied for its potential cardiovascular benefits, including effects on the arteries. Several human and animal studies suggest that cinnamon may help improve certain cardiovascular risk factors. For example, cinnamon has been shown to reduce total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides, while potentially increasing HDL cholesterol. Some research also points to cinnamon's ability to reduce blood pressure and exert anti-inflammatory effects, both of which are beneficial for arterial health. The mechanisms proposed include cinnamon's antioxidant properties, its ability to improve endothelial function, and its effects on glucose metabolism, which indirectly support vascular health.

However, while these findings are promising, most clinical trials are of relatively short duration, small sample size, or use variable dosages and types of cinnamon (e.g., Cinnamomum cassia versus Cinnamomum verum). Systematic reviews and meta-analyses highlight modest but statistically significant improvements in some cardiovascular risk markers, but they also call for more rigorous, large-scale studies. Thus, while there is a scientific rationale and some evidence supporting the use of Cinnamomum for arterial and overall cardiovascular health, the quality and consistency of evidence is moderate.
