Glabridin is a flavonoid found in licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) and has been investigated for its potential anti-aging properties. Scientific studies, primarily in vitro and in animal models, suggest that Glabridin exhibits antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, which are mechanisms commonly associated with aging prevention. Research indicates that Glabridin can scavenge free radicals, protect against oxidative stress, and inhibit enzymes involved in skin aging (such as tyrosinase and elastase). Some studies have also shown that Glabridin can improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles in topical formulations.

However, the evidence supporting the use of Glabridin for aging prevention in humans is limited. Most clinical studies are small, short-term, or focus on cosmetic outcomes (such as skin lightening or anti-wrinkle effects) rather than broader markers of aging. There are no large-scale, long-term clinical trials demonstrating its efficacy in preventing or treating aging systemically. Thus, while Glabridin is included in some cosmeceutical products for its potential anti-aging benefits, the scientific evidence is modest and preliminary. Further research, especially well-designed human studies, is needed to confirm its effectiveness and safety for this indication.
