Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) has some scientific basis for its role in supporting adrenal gland function, but the evidence is limited. Vitamin B6 is essential for numerous enzymatic reactions in the body, including those involved in amino acid metabolism, neurotransmitter synthesis, and hormone regulation. The adrenal glands produce several hormones, including cortisol and aldosterone, which are involved in the body's response to stress and electrolyte balance.

Some research indicates that vitamin B6 plays a role in the biosynthesis of adrenal hormones, particularly in the conversion of tryptophan to serotonin and the metabolism of homocysteine. Severe B6 deficiency can impair adrenal function in laboratory animals, leading to disturbances in hormone synthesis, but such deficiency is rare in humans.

There is limited clinical evidence in humans directly linking vitamin B6 supplementation to improved adrenal gland function or treatment of "adrenal fatigue," a controversial and not widely recognized diagnosis. Most uses of B6 for adrenal support are based on its general role in metabolic and neurotransmitter processes rather than direct effects on adrenal hormone production.
