Lingzhi (Ganoderma lucidum), also known as Reishi mushroom, has a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as a tonic herb. It is believed to promote vitality, reduce fatigue, and support overall "qi" or life force. In traditional herbalism, Lingzhi is sometimes associated with supporting the "shen" (spirit) and is thought to have adaptogenic properties, which could loosely relate to adrenal support in the context of modern interpretations. However, in TCM, the concept of "adrenal glands" as understood in Western medicine does not directly exist; rather, Lingzhi is used for its general restorative and balancing effects.

From a scientific standpoint, there is limited direct evidence that Lingzhi specifically supports adrenal gland function. Some studies have investigated its effects on stress and immune modulation, suggesting it may have adaptogenic qualities—substances that help the body resist stressors. However, robust clinical trials focusing on adrenal health are lacking. Most available research centers on immune support, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Thus, while its use for "adrenal support" is rooted in tradition and adaptogenic theory, scientific validation for this specific application remains sparse.
