Rating (out of 5): 1

Miroestrol is a phytoestrogenic compound primarily found in the tuberous root of the Pueraria mirifica plant, a herb native to Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia. Its use to support the vagina or vaginal health is rooted in traditional Thai medicine, where Pueraria mirifica has been consumed by women to promote youthfulness, femininity, and alleviate menopausal symptoms, including those affecting the vaginal body system such as dryness or atrophy. The traditional rationale is that the plant's estrogen-like activity may mimic the effects of natural estrogen, thereby supporting female reproductive tissues.

However, scientific validation for these effects is limited. While in vitro and animal studies suggest miroestrol and related compounds have estrogenic activity, robust, high-quality clinical trials in humans are scarce. Small-scale studies have indicated some improvement in menopausal symptoms, but the evidence specifically addressing vaginal health (such as tissue integrity, lubrication, or elasticity) is not strong or conclusive. No major clinical guidelines recommend miroestrol or Pueraria mirifica for vaginal health support, and safety over the long term remains uncertain. Therefore, its use is primarily justified by tradition rather than strong scientific evidence.
