Borassus aethiopum, commonly known as the African fan palm, has a history of use in traditional African medicine for a variety of ailments, including those affecting the urinary system. Ethnobotanical surveys and traditional healers in West and Central Africa have reported the use of different parts of the plant—especially the roots and fruit—for managing urinary tract issues such as infections and inflammation.
