Ox testicle (or bull testicle) extracts have a long history of use in traditional medicine systems, particularly in certain forms of Western organotherapy and Chinese medicine. The traditional rationale is based on the "like cures like" or "organotherapy" principle, where consuming or supplementing with animal organs was thought to strengthen or heal the corresponding human organ—in this case, the testes. Such practices date back to the early 20th century when glandular therapies were popular, and desiccated animal organs were used to support endocrine health, fertility, or male virility. However, while these uses are well-documented historically, there is minimal to no robust scientific evidence supporting the efficacy of ox testicle extracts for improving human testicular function, hormone production, or male fertility. Modern clinical trials are lacking, and most scientific literature does not validate the claims made by traditional use. Current understanding suggests that oral consumption of animal testicular tissue is unlikely to significantly affect human biochemistry due to digestion and breakdown of proteins and hormones. In summary, the use of ox testicle for supporting the testes is rooted in historical and traditional practice rather than scientific validation.
