Synopsis

Rating (out of 5): 2

Fructoborate, a boron-containing compound found naturally in fruits and vegetables, has been investigated for its potential benefits on bone health. Boron itself is recognized as an essential trace mineral, playing a role in bone development and maintenance. Several small-scale clinical and preclinical studies suggest that supplements containing boron, including fructoborate, may help improve bone mineral density and support bone metabolism by influencing the metabolism of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, as well as hormones like vitamin D and estrogen, which are important for bone health.

Research specifically on calcium fructoborate (a common supplemental form) indicates that it may support healthy inflammatory responses and reduce markers of bone turnover in postmenopausal women, who are at increased risk for osteoporosis. However, while initial data are promising, the overall body of evidence is limited by small sample sizes, short study durations, and a lack of large-scale, long-term randomized controlled trials. As such, the evidence supporting fructoborate's role in bone health is preliminary. It is not yet considered a mainstream intervention for bone disease, but does have a plausible scientific basis and some emerging clinical support.

In summary, fructoborate is being used to support the skeletal system based on some scientific findings, but the evidence is moderate to low in strength, warranting further research for conclusive recommendations.
