For the health condition: Phlebitis
Synopsis
Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1
Belamcanda chinensis (commonly known as She Gan or Leopard Lily) has a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), primarily for its effects on the throat and upper respiratory tract. In some traditional herbal compendia, it has also been mentioned as a remedy to "clear heat and toxins" and "disperse swelling," which can be interpreted in modern terms as having anti-inflammatory properties. However, its specific use in the traditional treatment of phlebitis (inflammation of the veins) is only loosely supported. There are occasional references in TCM literature to Belamcanda being included in formulas aimed at reducing swelling or inflammation, but phlebitis as a clinical entity is not directly addressed. There is little to no robust scientific research or clinical trial data validating its use for this condition, and modern phytotherapy sources rarely list phlebitis as an indication for Belamcanda. Therefore, while there is some traditional precedent for its use in inflammatory conditions, the connection to phlebitis is indirect, and evidence supporting its efficacy for this specific condition is weak.
