Fatty acids, particularly omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, are scientifically validated to play a role in supporting ovarian health and function. Several studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids, commonly found in fish oil and flaxseed oil supplements, may help regulate hormonal balance, reduce inflammation, and improve ovulatory function in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and other reproductive issues. For example, dietary supplementation with omega-3s has been associated with improved menstrual regularity and reduced androgen levels in women with PCOS (Oner et al., 2016).

Omega-3 fatty acids also play a structural role in cell membranes, including those of ovarian follicles, and may contribute to oocyte quality. Some observational studies have linked higher dietary intake of omega-3s with a reduced risk of ovulatory infertility (Chavarro et al., 2008). However, while evidence is promising, it is not yet conclusive, and more randomized controlled trials are needed to clarify the specific benefits and mechanisms. In summary, there is scientific support—though not absolute consensus—for the use of fatty acid supplements as adjuncts to support ovarian health, particularly in cases of inflammation, hormonal imbalance, or ovulatory dysfunction.
