Beta-lactoglobulin is a major whey protein found in cow’s milk and is a rich source of essential amino acids. Its use to support or improve muscle tone is scientifically validated, primarily because of its high content of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), particularly leucine, which plays a key role in stimulating muscle protein synthesis. Numerous studies have demonstrated that whey protein supplementation, of which beta-lactoglobulin is a significant component, can enhance muscle mass and strength, especially when combined with resistance exercise. This is particularly relevant for populations prone to muscle tone loss, such as the elderly or those experiencing sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss).
However, it is important to note that the specific role of beta-lactoglobulin, as opposed to total whey protein, is less frequently isolated in scientific literature.
