Multiple randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses have demonstrated that vitamin A supplementation significantly reduces morbidity and mortality associated with measles, particularly in populations where vitamin A deficiency is prevalent. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) both recommend high-dose vitamin A supplementation for children diagnosed with measles, as it can reduce the risk of severe complications such as pneumonia, diarrhea, and blindness.
