Riboflavin (vitamin B2) is an essential water-soluble vitamin involved in a variety of cellular processes, primarily in energy production and the metabolism of fats, drugs, and steroids. The "Glandular System" generally refers to the body's network of glands, including the adrenal, thyroid, pituitary, and other endocrine glands. Riboflavin is crucial for the normal function of these glands because it is a precursor of the coenzymes flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD), both of which are involved in redox reactions necessary for cellular energy and hormone production.

Scientific studies support riboflavin’s importance for general cellular and metabolic health, and deficiency can impair the function of several endocrine glands. For example, research has shown that riboflavin deficiency can affect adrenal gland function, resulting in impaired steroidogenesis in animal models. Riboflavin is also important for thyroid hormone metabolism, as several enzymes involved in the synthesis and activation of thyroid hormones require FAD as a cofactor.

However, while riboflavin deficiency can affect glandular function, there is limited direct evidence that supplementing riboflavin beyond normal dietary needs specifically enhances the function of the glandular system in otherwise healthy individuals. Therefore, while its inclusion in formulas for glandular support is scientifically plausible given its role in metabolism and hormone biosynthesis, direct clinical validation for this targeted application is moderate.
