In recent years, thylakoid extracts (often sourced from spinach leaves) have been investigated as dietary supplements for their potential benefits in appetite regulation, weight management, and metabolic health. There is some emerging scientific evidence that thylakoid supplementation can influence satiety hormones, delay fat digestion, and reduce hunger, which may indirectly support energy levels by moderating blood glucose fluctuations and reducing overeating.
However, direct evidence supporting thylakoids as a treatment for "lack of energy" or fatigue in humans is limited. Some small human studies suggest that thylakoid supplementation can help maintain stable blood sugar levels and reduce food cravings, which might be perceived as supporting sustained energy. For example, a few randomized controlled trials have shown reduced hunger and improved glycemic control after thylakoid intake, but these studies did not primarily measure energy or fatigue as outcomes.
