Bupleurum, a genus of plants commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has historically been incorporated into herbal formulas aimed at alleviating various conditions, including edema (fluid retention). In TCM, Bupleurum root (known as Chai Hu) is believed to possess properties that help "harmonize" the body, regulate the flow of qi (energy), and support liver and spleen function.
