Trichopus zeylanicus, also known as "Arogyapacha," has a traditional reputation, especially among the Kani tribe of the Western Ghats in India, for its use as an adaptogenic and energy-boosting plant. Tribal knowledge describes its use to reduce fatigue and enhance physical performance during long treks or strenuous tasks. This ethnobotanical use was the basis for subsequent research interest. Some preliminary scientific studies have been conducted, mostly in animal models and limited human trials, suggesting anti-fatigue, adaptogenic, and antioxidant properties. Extracts of Trichopus zeylanicus have demonstrated improvements in endurance and reduction of exercise-induced biochemical markers of fatigue in rodents. However, robust and large-scale clinical trials in athletes or exercising humans are lacking, and the evidence remains insufficient for strong scientific validation.
