In Ayurveda, spinach (palak) is regarded as a cooling and nourishing vegetable, supportive of pitta and vata doshas, but aggravating to kapha when eaten in excess. It is used to promote strength, stamina, and bowel regularity, and was often included in rejuvenative diets for convalescence.
