Evidence supporting the use of: Bасора
For the health condition: Energy (lack of)
Synopsis
Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 2
Bacopa monnieri, commonly known as bacopa or Brahmi, is primarily used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine to support cognitive function, memory, and mental clarity. Its use for addressing "energy" or fatigue is not as prominent as its nootropic applications, but traditional texts sometimes associate bacopa with promoting general vitality and resilience, which can be interpreted as supporting energy. The evidence for using bacopa specifically to treat or support energy levels comes mainly from its traditional role as a "rasayana," or rejuvenative tonic, in Ayurveda. It is believed to help balance the doshas, strengthen the nervous system, and promote overall well-being, which could indirectly help with feelings of tiredness or lack of energy. However, direct scientific studies on bacopa's effects on physical energy, fatigue, or stamina in humans are limited. Most modern research focuses on its cognitive benefits and potential anti-anxiety or adaptogenic effects, rather than on energy per se. Therefore, while there is traditional precedent for its use in supporting general vitality, there is little direct scientific validation for bacopa specifically targeting lack of energy or fatigue. Its rating for this use is moderate based on tradition, but weak based on current clinical evidence.
