Fructoborate, a boron-containing compound found naturally in fruits and vegetables, has been investigated for its potential benefits on bone health. Several small-scale clinical and preclinical studies suggest that supplements containing boron, including fructoborate, may help improve bone mineral density and support bone metabolism by influencing the metabolism of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, as well as hormones like vitamin D and estrogen, which are important for bone health.
Research specifically on calcium fructoborate (a common supplemental form) indicates that it may support healthy inflammatory responses and reduce markers of bone turnover in postmenopausal women, who are at increased risk for osteoporosis.
