Sinopsis

ACV contains polyphenols including gallic acid, catechins, caffeic acid, and ferulic acid that exhibit antioxidant activity. An 8-week RCT in T2DM patients found ACV significantly improved DPPH free-radical scavenging capacity and mitigated the rise in malondialdehyde (lipid peroxidation marker) versus controls.

  • AcnéCientífico

Short-term human studies suggest ACV may modestly reduce appetite and promote satiety, likely by slowing gastric emptying. A 2022 literature review found 4 of 6 short-term studies showed appetite suppression, but none of the long-term studies replicated this. Effects are inconsistent and depend on acetic acid concentration.

  • HipotensiónCientífico

Limited human clinical evidence suggests ACV may produce modest reductions in blood pressure, primarily via acetic acid's proposed effects on the renin-angiotensin system. A 2022 systematic review found controversial results. Most supportive data comes from animal studies; human RCT evidence is weak and inconsistent.

  • Multiple meta-analyses of controlled clinical trials demonstrate that ACV significantly reduces fasting blood glucose and HbA1c in adults with type 2 diabetes. The primary mechanism involves acetic acid inhibiting disaccharidase activity in the small intestine, slowing starch digestion and blunting postprandial glycemia. Evidence is graded moderate quality for fasting blood sugar outcomes.

  • In vitro studies demonstrate ACV inhibits Candida albicans growth, requiring undiluted (5% acidity) concentration for full antifungal effect. A 2018 PubMed study confirmed antifungal activity at full strength but noted yeasts including Candida are less susceptible than bacteria. No robust human RCTs for internal Candida treatment exist.

  • Pooled evidence from multiple meta-analyses shows ACV significantly reduces total cholesterol and LDL, with some studies also showing increased HDL. The 2021 BMC meta-analysis of 9 RCTs found a significant reduction of approximately 6 mg/dL in serum total cholesterol. Effects are modest and most consistent in people with diabetes or dyslipidemia.

  • ApendicitisCientífico

In vitro and limited clinical studies show ACV can downregulate pro-inflammatory cytokine expression. A PubMed-indexed study found ACV reduced cytokine and microbial protein expression in cell cultures. A 2023 systematic review and meta-analysis of RCTs examined ACV's effects on inflammation and oxidative stress markers.

  • Animal studies show ACV powder restores gut microbiota diversity, enriching beneficial taxa such as Muribaculaceae and Akkermansia, and reverses high-fat-diet-induced dysbiosis. ACV's prebiotic fiber (pectin) and polyphenols may support beneficial bacteria. Human microbiome data are currently limited to in vitro and animal models.

  • Apple cider vinegar's acetic acid content slows gastric emptying, reduces postprandial glucose and insulin, and promotes satiety, contributing to reduced caloric intake and modest weight loss. A 12-week double-blind RCT in 175 obese Japanese subjects found daily consumption of 1–2 tablespoons significantly reduced body weight, BMI, visceral fat, and waist circumference versus placebo.

  • JuanetesCientífico

ACV has been studied as an agent addressing multiple cardiometabolic risk factors simultaneously: blood glucose, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and modest blood pressure effects. No direct cardiovascular endpoint trials (e.g., MI or stroke reduction) exist; evidence is restricted to surrogate markers. Meta-analyses confirm improvements in lipid and glycemic parameters relevant to cardiovascular risk.

  • Olor de piesCientífico

Clinical trials show ACV can improve markers of insulin sensitivity, including HOMA-IR and QUICKI, particularly in individuals with type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance. Acetic acid is thought to activate AMPK and reduce hepatic glucose output. Results are modest and heterogeneous across studies.

  • ACV's acetic acid is metabolized to bicarbonate, potentially alkalinizing urine and increasing urinary citrate — both recognized strategies for preventing calcium oxalate kidney stones. A registered clinical trial (NCT04073719) is investigating ACV for prevention of urinary lithiasis. No completed large RCT evidence is currently published.

  • GingivitisCientífico

ACV has been studied specifically for its effects on cardiometabolic syndrome (CMS), a cluster of metabolic risk factors. A meta-analysis of 25 clinical trials found it improved fasting glucose, HbA1c, and total cholesterol simultaneously. A 2026 PCOS RCT also assessed its adjunctive effects on metabolic syndrome components.

  • Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has human clinical evidence supporting modest improvements in key metabolic parameters, including fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, insulin sensitivity, body weight, and BMI. Its primary active compound, acetic acid, appears to act via delayed gastric emptying, inhibition of disaccharidase and alpha-amylase activity, and activation of hepatic AMPK. A 2023 meta-analysis of 25 clinical trials found significant reductions in fasting blood glucose and HbA1c, though effect sizes are moderate and study quality is variable.

  • A small Japanese study (n=7 PCOS women; 15g ACV/day for up to 110 days) found ovulatory function restored in 4 of 7 participants, likely via insulin sensitization. A 2026 RCT (n=94) specifically assessed ACV as adjunct therapy for MetS and insulin resistance in PCOS patients. Evidence base is preliminary but includes human data.

  • DebilidadCientífico

Meta-analyses of RCTs show ACV consumption is associated with modest but statistically significant reductions in serum triglycerides. An 18-week RCT in obese subjects found reductions in triglycerides alongside modest weight loss. Mechanisms are attributed to acetic acid's effects on lipid metabolism and hepatic fatty acid oxidation.

  • DislocaciónTradicional

ACV has been used traditionally for digestive complaints including bloating, gas, and abdominal discomfort, particularly in folk medicine and naturopathic practice. The proposed mechanism involves ACV's acidity supporting digestive enzyme activity and gastric acidification. No human clinical trials specifically address abdominal discomfort as a primary endpoint.

  • AbrasionesTradicional

ACV is a popular folk remedy for acid reflux based on the hypothesis that low gastric acid — not excess — causes reflux in some individuals, and ACV may correct this. Harvard Health and GoodRx note there is no published research confirming ACV's efficacy for GERD. Traditional use is well-documented; clinical evidence is absent.

  • ACV has a long tradition of use in natural and folk medicine as a Candida 'cleanse,' based on its acidic pH and documented in vitro antifungal properties. No human clinical trials have evaluated an ACV-based Candida cleanse protocol. The concept of 'cleansing' systemic Candida with ACV is not clinically validated.

  • AsmaTradicional

Apple cider vinegar is a widely cited folk remedy for corns; its mild acetic acid content is proposed to soften and loosen thickened keratinized skin, facilitating removal. Multiple podiatry clinics and health platforms recommend applying it to corn sites overnight, and it is listed among natural corn treatments by Ayurvedic and general health sources. No clinical trials have evaluated it specifically for corns.

  • Pie de atletaTradicional

Topical ACV rinses for dandruff are a documented traditional remedy, supported by ACV's acidic pH (potentially balancing scalp pH) and in vitro antifungal activity against Malassezia-related organisms. No human clinical trials specifically for dandruff exist. The practice is widely referenced in traditional and home-remedy contexts.

  • FatigaTradicional

ACV has been widely used topically in folk medicine for fungal skin conditions, including tinea and dandruff, on the basis of its acidic pH and in vitro antifungal activity. No human RCTs have validated topical ACV for fungal skin conditions specifically. Dermatologist recommendation for dilute ACV soaks is common but evidence-based support is limited.

  • Miedo (excesivo)Tradicional

Traditional and folk medicine has long used ACV to 'alkalize the body' and manage gout symptoms. Clinical evidence is very limited; no large RCTs confirm ACV reduces serum uric acid. One small, preliminary double-blind trial (2020) suggested a drop in uric acid with ACV, but findings have not been independently replicated.

  • ACV has a long folk medicine history as a sore throat gargle, referenced as far back as Hippocrates. The antibacterial activity of acetic acid against common throat pathogens (e.g., S. aureus, E. coli) has been confirmed in vitro. No human clinical trials have evaluated ACV for sore throat treatment.

  • DermatitisTradicional

ACV sitz baths and topical rinses are a traditional remedy for vaginal pH imbalance and yeast-related discomfort, based on ACV's acidic pH and in vitro antifungal activity. No human RCTs have validated topical or internal ACV for vaginal pH maintenance or bacterial vaginosis. Gynecological sources note potential for irritation with misuse.
