Sinopsis

El resfriado común es una infección viral leve y autolimitada del tracto respiratorio superior, que afecta la nariz, la garganta y los senos paranasales. Generalmente es causado por rinovirus, pero también puede resultar de infecciones por coronavirus, virus sincitial respiratorio (RSV), adenovirus o virus de la parainfluenza. Los resfriados son altamente contagiosos y se transmiten a través de gotitas respiratorias, contacto directo con superficies infectadas, o al tocarse la boca, la nariz o los ojos tras la exposición.

Los síntomas suelen aparecer 1–3 días después de la exposición e incluyen congestión nasal, secreción nasal, dolor de garganta, tos, fiebre leve, fatiga, estornudos y, en ocasiones, ojos llorosos. La mayoría de los resfriados se resuelven en 7–10 días sin intervención médica.
